History

The Company was founded on October 29, 1981 under the name Mistral Air by popular Italian actor and sportsman Carlo Pedersoli, aka Bud Spencer, in the wake of his passion for flying.

In 2002 the Company was acquired by Poste Italiane, which completed its restructuring in 2019, creating Poste Air Cargo and repositioning its focus on cargo and mail transport.

Today Poste Air Cargo, more than 40 years after its founding, is Italy's longest-running airline and employs more than 100 employees with a fleet of six aircraft.

Services Provided

Logistic Transport

Poste Air Cargo offers air cargo services, including:

  • Mail & Parcel transport;
  • Scheduled full freighter services;
  • Charter transport and ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance).

It is also possible to supplement the air freight offer with complementary road transport thanks to the support of other Poste Italiane Group Companies, e.g. Customer - Airport warehouse connections.

Aircraft Maintenance

At Fiumicino Leonardo Da Vinci Airport, Poste Air Cargo offers Line Maintenance service for Boeing 737-400 and 737-800 aircraft of other Operators.

Training

With a team of highly qualified instructors, Poste Air Cargo Flight School (ATO - Approved Training Organization) delivers the following courses:

  • Type Rating Instructor (TRI) B737 300-900 + Renewal;
  • B737 300-900 + Renewal + Differences;
  • B737 300-900 Zero Flight Time Type Rating (ZFTT).

Network

Poste Air Cargo, Italy's leading full-freighter domestic air carrier, connects with an overnight network 8 Italian airports serving the logistics of the cargo courier segment, ensuring support for Poste Italiane's logistics.

Domestically, the Company operates permanently at Fiumicino, Catania, Palermo, Cagliari, Lamezia Terme, Bari, Olbia and Brescia airports, ensuring daily connections from north to south and vice versa.

Routes Served

The Fiumicino operating base and the Milan Malpensa gateway, with their respective strategic geographical locations, make it easy to serve the geographical area ranging from Portugal to Pakistan, Scandinavia to Central Africa.

Among the destinations served are Malta, Alexandria, Algiers, Casablanca, Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Shannon, Edinburgh, Bucharest, Sofia and Tel Aviv.

Authorizations and Certifications

Poste Air Cargo is an IATA member and operates as an Airline under the main European aviation certifications, which guarantee quality, safety and operational competence:

  • Operating License: authorization to transport commercial air cargo and mail by air;
  • AOC - Air Operator Certificate: certifies full operational and organizational capability to operate flights under the safest conditions;
  • CAMO - Continuing Airworthiness: certification for the continuous management of aircraft airworthiness and safety;
  • Part 145 - Aircraft Maintenance: qualification for scheduled maintenance, both for its own fleet and third-party aircraft;
  • ATO - Approved Training Organization: certified training center for pilots and instructors, with theoretical and practical programs.

 

As further confirmation of its commitment to quality and safety, Poste Air Cargo has also obtained: 

  • IOSA - IATA Operational Safety Audit: international certification for operational safety according to IATA standards;
  • CEIV PHARMA: IATA recognition for excellence in the safe transportation of pharmaceutical products;
  • ISO 9001:2018: certified quality system to ensure efficiency and reliability in every process;
  • ISO 45001:2018: international standard for occupational health and safety.

In compliance with the provisions of the Organizational Model pursuant to Legislative Decree (D.lgs.) 231/01 and internal regulatory instruments, the receipt, analysis and processing of reports in non-anonymous form forwarded by Poste Air Cargo or Poste Italiane Group employees, members of corporate bodies, stakeholders and third parties are guaranteed. 
These are reports concerning conduct by Poste Air Cargo employees, members of the corporate bodies or third parties in violation of the Code of Ethics, laws, regulations, measures of the Authorities, internal regulations, Model 231, likely to cause damage or harm, even if only in terms of image, to Poste Air Cargo.

The utmost confidentiality about the subjects and facts reported is guaranteed, as well as the anonymity of the reporting parties, so that the person making the report is not subject to any form of discrimination or pressure, direct or indirect. Reports can be submitted through the Whistleblowing Portal.
